Kentuckiana HealthFitness: The Magazine for People with Active Lifestyles Feature Article

The Louisville Bicycle Club is a Kentuckiana Treasure

If you are a cyclist and are not a member of the Louisville Bicycle Club (LBC), you are missing a lot of fun as well as opportunities to be friends with a lot of really great people. In fact, the LBC is one of the most active and progressive clubs in the Midwest . During the warmer months, there is generally some type of ride (rides for the fast and slow pokes, for the novice and the competitor) at least four to five times a week at various locations and distances. Membership dues are $20 per year for a family (including dependent children), $15 for 18 and older and $10 for youth 13-18 years old. For more information visit www.louisvillebicycle.org. The LBC offers services such as bike maintenance and safety classes, local bike route information, new rider information and many helping hands if needed to get the novice rider up to speed.

The LBC has been instrumental in raising the awareness of cycling in our community and very active in the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement. When the “Emerald Necklace,” an over-60-mile loop around the county, is completed our community will be making important strides to become a bicycle – (and active) friendly community.

The Louisville Bicycle Club Banquet Rewards Volunteers

The LBC banquet was held on Friday, December 2 at the Big Spring Country Club. I was unable to attend the festivities but I understand the food was great and fun was had by all the attendees.

Cheryl Brawner, Please Get Well, Soon!

I mistakenly labeled Barbara Trettor as Cheryl Brawner in one of the pictures published in KHF awhile back. And, well, I did take some teasing about that mistake, but I truly do know Cheryl. I would like to let her know that she is in my prayers (and the prayers of many others in our community) and we all hope for a speedy recovery.
